Selecting a lamp and table combination
Review the furniture function and lighting function independently.
A lamp with an integrated table or shelf combines two purchasing questions. The surface needs to suit its intended objects and position, while the light needs to serve the actual task. Neither function should be inferred from the other.
Define the combined use
Describe the seating, items placed on the surface and the lighting task. Decide whether the surface is for occasional objects, reading material or another use. Specify any requested storage or charging features separately.
Do not assume a combination product includes wireless charging, sockets or storage. Ask what is supplied in the exact offered version.
Dimensions and structure
Review surface size, height, base footprint and clearances beside the furniture. Ask for assembly details and documented permitted use, including any applicable loading information. Avoid guessing a load capacity from appearance.
Check movement around the product and whether the table can be used comfortably from the intended seat. Compare material descriptions with the sample.
Light and controls
Review the position of the light source relative to the surface, reading material and user. Confirm output, distribution and supported adjustments for the selected configuration. Check switch access without having to move objects from the table.
For reading, use the task-light review. For a wider room role, see room illumination.
Care and sample documents
Confirm cable routing, cleaning instructions and service arrangements for both furniture and lighting parts. Review a sample with the actual intended objects, and retain drawings and configuration references with the approval.
This guide does not confirm a lamp-and-table platform in the current BILLLED catalogue. See the current product overview or discuss a special requirement to establish the available scope.
